The Black Bell Eight Bells Puzzle: How to Beat Silence the Bells

You beat the Silence the Bells trial by silencing each of the eight bells before its chime finishes. Clear all eight and the red seal breaks, opening the sealed door toward The Black Bell Chapter 2's final choice: the Black Pearl or escape. Miss a single chime and the creature kills you on the spot, but the trial restarts from the first bell, so every failure is just another attempt.

How the trial begins

The puzzle isn't somewhere you walk to. At the end of Chapter 2, instead of a clean exit, the screen cuts to black and you wake in an upside-down, black-walled void room full of floating furniture. A massive wooden gate sealed by a glowing red demonic seal stands in that room — touch it and the trial called SILENCE THE BELLS starts.

On-screen, this is the "Silence the bells" objective with a target of 8 bells. It's the third of the chapter's four main objectives, coming after the wheel and lever puzzle and the four valves puzzle, and right before the final choice.

The rule you're playing against

The trial puts you on a circular stone altar marked with a pentagram. Eight bells chime in sequence, and each one has to be silenced before its chime finishes. Your whole job is that loop: hear a bell, silence it before the sound runs out, then be ready for the next, all the way through eight.

There is no margin for a late bell. Let a single chime finish and the attempt ends instantly — the creature kills you (its behavior is covered in the monster guide) and the message THE SEAL REJECTED YOU appears. That's harsh, but it isn't the end of the run: a failed attempt restarts the sequence from bell one, so you can go straight back and try again. Treat every restart as a fresh run of eight.
